The Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys is proud to support the Gate City Bar Association’s 2019 Justice Robert Benham Law Camp to be held June 3-21. The Camp is a free three-week summer program designed to expose minority high school students to the field of law. Students interested in law or just wish to explore should apply.
The last week of the camp consists of a paid internship at a partner law firm, court, legal department or other legal environments.

WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES WILL I EXPERIENCE AT HTU?
Having fun, working in teams and learning by doing are all part of the HTU experience. At HTU you will: • Launch hacky sacks using Statapults to determine how statistics are important in quality control decisions • Light up the room with a chemistry-based experiment • Apply your feet in a unique HTU activity and become the inside of a calculator
• Work in teams, solving real-world problems in third-world countries • Prepare for an interview, AND have an actual mock one-on-one interview with an industry professional
WHO SHOULD ATTEND? • If you are a good to average student, fourteen to seventeen years old, and have an interest in high tech, you should apply.
• You do not have to be an “A” student, all students are encouraged to apply. • If you enjoy solving problems, working in teams and participating in hands-on activities, you will enjoy HTU. • If you are confused about educational next steps and what you can do NOW to plan for your future, this program is designed for you.

Students who are rising sophomores, sophomores, juniors or seniors in high school with at least a 3.0 grade point average, may complete an application for ACAP. The completed application package includes:
Notifications, including interview details and rejections, will be communicated via electronic mail (e-mail). Please confirm the email addresses provided in the application are accurate and legible. Failure to respond to email correspondence within the requested timeframes will be considered forfeiture of interview time.
If selected to participate in the Program, each student and one parent/guardian must attend an orientation in the Atlanta area tentatively scheduled for the morning of Saturday, May 18, 2019. For selected applicants outside of the metro Atlanta area, you may be permitted to attend the orientation via teleconference. Students selected for ACAP must also attend the entire Program from check-in on the afternoon of Sunday, July 7, 2019 through the awards reception on Friday, July 12, 2019. Additional rules and regulations will be provided to the students chosen to participate in the Program.

Stanford Summer Programs
We offer programs across a wide variety of disciplines including arts, humanities, science, and math, giving highly motivated students the opportunity to investigate advanced topics not typically taught in secondary schools. Participants engage in small classes with brilliant instructors and peers who share their passions.
Deadlines for our summer programs are in February, with some early round deadlines in January. Admission is selective. Limited financial aid is available.
•Stanford Summer Arts Institute students in grades 8–11 come together for a three-week intensive interdisciplinary arts program offering academically rigorous, hands-on courses in art, visual design, and music.
•Stanford Summer Humanities Institute students in grades 10 and 11 explore the big questions at the heart of the humanities in seminars led by distinguished Stanford professors during this three-week residential program.
•Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes allows students in grades 8–11 to engage in single-subject intensive study selected from a wide range of disciplines, and benefit from small class size and academically themed residences.
•Stanford AI4ALL invites young women in grade 9 to apply to this three-week residential summer program. Participants learn about topics in AI, partake in ongoing research at Stanford, and receive mentorship from professors, graduate students, and industry professionals.
•Stanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC) students participate in a highly-selective program centered around lectures, guided research, and group problem solving in advanced math topics. This four-week program is intended for an elite group of talented students in grades 10 and 11.
•Stanford Pre-Collegiate University-Level Online Math and Physics offers 13 courses throughout the year, including a summer term for high school students, grades 9–12. Students earn Stanford University Continuing Studies credit.

OneUSDA Internship
As part of the Federal Pathways Program, the OneUSDA Internship will provide students a way to explore serving their country through a career in government while gaining work experience in agriculture, natural resources, rural development, and other career fields.

What is UA Early College?
Washington Youth Tour
If you are a high school sophomore or junior living or attending school in Walton EMC's service area, you could be one of four students who win an all expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. as a participant in the Washington Youth Tour!
This leadership development opportunity provides a peek at how our state and national governments works and what it takes to be a better leader. The trip includes one on one meetings with congressional delegates, visits to the White House and national monuments and enjoying social activities with other Tour delegates from across the nation.
To Apply:

Take a written test on provided material covering topics such as electricity, cooperatives, Walton EMC and the specific utility company.
The eight students with the best score will move on to the interview round of the contest where the judges will choose four winners and one alternate.

- Work with other high school students in a business case study competition.

State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program and The Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys

The pipeline program is a partnership between the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program, the Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys and Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. This year’s program will commence on Tuesday, May 29, and end on Friday, June 8. Class will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. on each day.
We are seeking rising 9th, 10th and 11th graders who are interested in law or attending law school. The selected students will be exposed to various aspects of the law, have the opportunity to meet and interact with lawyers and judges, and participate in workshops such as college preparation, social media etiquette and study skills. The program will end with a writing and oral presentation competition and closing party.

The Leadership Sin Limites program is a 5 day/4 night program held on the campus of UGA, which will give students the opportunity to experience UGA and develop a better understanding college and how to apply. There is also a community service project element that will allow students to return in December to share their experience. This program has experienced years of success and we are proud to have former participants serving as mentors for this great program.
Who can participate: Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors
Tuition: $375 (includes housing, meals and activities for the week)

UTC Summer Business Experience
We want to invite your rising high school seniors to experience a taste of college life, interact with expert faculty and business leaders and explore Chattanooga during the UTC Summer Business Experience! This six-day residential summer program is designed for academically talented students who are interested in a career in business. The application is simple, available online and due: TBA
The Experience
The Summer Business Experience includes visits to top employers of UTC College of Business graduates, including leaders in the manufacturing, retail, and service industries. Students will experience personal interaction with top-level executives as well as behind-the-scenes tours of operations and facilities. In addition, students get a preview of college life and the Chattanooga experience through recreational events, athletic activities, picnics, visits to area attractions and more.
Who Qualifies?
- Rising seniors (students who will be seniors in the fall of 2018)
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.25
- Applicants should have an interest in business education.
- $200 per student
- Includes all housing, meals, snacks, activities and transportation during the program. (Students are responsible for their transportation to and iofrom the UTC campus.)
